While proponents of PBL differ slightly on the wording, they are pretty much in agreement regarding the phases a team must pass through in order to study a problem and present a powerful action plan to address that problem.

Take a look at this diagram we will use to structure your units. Make sure you and your partner understand what happens during each state.
